Regarding the Nikon F
Share
The legendary Nikon F, a masterpiece whose tales are still told.
It was the first Japanese-made professional SLR camera.
Its legend began in 1959.
Before the war, all Japanese manufacturers
followed in the footsteps of the prestigious German brand, Leica,
developing rangefinder cameras.
There are many imitations and copies of classic Leica cameras, commonly known as Barnack-type.
There are even fakes called "fake Leicas."
Barnack-type cameras still have many fans.
The turning point for Japanese manufacturers to stop chasing Leica
and shift towards SLRs was the introduction of the Leica M3, an evolution of the Barnack type.
The Leica M3 was born as the pinnacle of rangefinder cameras,
and it made such an impact that Japanese camera manufacturers felt they couldn't compete.
It was said to be packed with features that were revolutionary for its time.
This trend was no different for Nikon (then Nippon Kogaku).
Like other manufacturers, they were developing rangefinder cameras.
These were the S series.
Their appearance and controls were Contax-like
(a camera brand comparable to Leica at the time).
Nikon did not adopt the L39 mount, which was the same standard as Leica,
but instead used the S mount.
*L39 mount lenses were also manufactured at the time.

The SP model, considered the "special professional" version of the S series,
became the basis for the Nikon F, with its internal structure inherited.
Armed with the technology and reliability cultivated in the Nikon S series,
the Nikon F finally made its appearance.
This marked the beginning of the long history of the F mount.
No camera enthusiast doesn't know about the F mount, right?
It's a mount that has continued for over half a century.
The overwhelming quality and rigidity that modern cameras lack.
It has continued to fascinate us for over half a century since its birth.
While preferences vary, I think its appearance and shape are also very beautiful.
It's also a camera that gives you the joy of ownership.
Classic cameras offer a sense of romance when you use them,
imagining the unique memories of each individual camera –
what scenes it has witnessed throughout its history and ownership changes.
I believe the Nikon F is precisely such a camera.
What makes the Nikon F amazing:
-
It's a historic camera.
-
Beautiful design.
-
Still fully functional today.
